Staff for 2008/09

Kevin Poelking is a sophomore at the University of South Carolina pursuing a degree in Music Education with emphasis in Percussion.  Kevin plays with the USC Marching Band- where he is music director for the drum line, Concert Band, and Percussion Ensemble.  Kevin played his 4 years of high school drum line with Chattahoochee , where he served 4 years as captain of the tenors, and 2 years as drum line section leader.  He was awarded Most Outstanding Senior by the band in 2007.  Kevin currently lives in Alpharetta , Georgia when not attending school in Columbia , South Carolina .

 

Chris Beville received his undergraduate degree in the spring of 2004 from the University of Nevada Las Vegas . In the summer of 2001 Chris Began his DCI career with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps out of Casper , Wyoming . Chris spent the next two summers with the Phantom Regiment, under Brian Mason, where he earned a gold medal at the DCI individual and ensemble competition. In October of 2004 Chris moved to Germany where he earned a performance certificate under the tutelage of world-renowned performers Bill Molenhof (world renowned jazz vibraphone artist and composer) and Herman Schwander (Principal Timpanist emeritus Nurnberg Philharmoniker). In May of 2008 Chris received his Masters Degree From Georgia State University under the tutelage of Stuart Gerber. Chris is currently a freelance percussionist in the Metro Atlanta area.

Dennis Demaree originally hails from Indianapolis , Indiana and earned is Bachelor of Music Education from the internationally acclaimed, Indiana University School of Music - studying under such legends as Professor Wilber England , Tom Stubbs, and Gerry Carlyss. While at IU, Dennis marched for three years with the 'Indiana University Marching Hundred', was elected president of the collegiate chapter of Music Educators National Conference, and was repeatedly named to the Dean's list. Dennis earned his Master of Music Education degree from Ball State University , studying and performing under the direction of PASIC Hall of Fame Inductee - Dr. Erwin Mueller. While at Ball State , Dennis was active in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia professional music fraternity, made the tenor line of the 'Pride of Mid-America' drumline, and was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda Music National Honor Society.

Dennis began his public school career teaching in Cobb County where he was a middle school director for 5 years. During this time he was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, and became a repeat recipient of 'Who's Who Among America's Teachers' - an award that less than two percent of the nation's teachers receive. Dennis has spent the past 6 years serving the Fulton County community as an elementary band and orchestra director. He is currently in his 4th year at Mountain Park Elementary and also teaches at Hembree Springs Elementary.

Having taught several drumlines, front ensembles, and batteries throughout Indiana , Cobb County , and Fulton County - Dennis has amassed extensive experience teaching marching percussion. Additionally, he has served as a clinician, judge, and private lesson studio teacher. Notable performances include: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, College Band Directors National Association 'Golden Anniversary' Convention, and Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service and Conference in Savannah , Georgia . Dennis remains active by performing under the baton of Maestro Phillip Rice of the Georgia Philharmonic. He wants to thank the administration, parents, and directors of Chattahoochee High School for the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented and dedicated staff, group of students, and community.
