We need your support!
As many of you know, our color guard programs has grown by leaps and bonds over the past year, not so much in numbers but quality. Our fall color guard had its first ever undefeated season. This success carried into the winter season. The winter guard program expanded to two groups— Chattahoochee Gold, the advanced winter guard team, and Chattahoochee Blue, our feeder team. Our B lue team had a phenomenal inaugural season by winning the gold medal at our winter guard circuit championships ( www.sapaonline.net ). The Gold team was promoted up a class early in the winter guard season based on exceeding the expectations of their class. Gold also competed for the first time in national level competition at Winter Guard International ( www.wgi.org ) Regional contests and made the final round at the Orlando regional in March. This year the staff has plans on building on this national exposure by taking the Gold team to the Mid Atlantic Regional (just outside of New York) in March and the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, in April 2009. This is a big step up for the team which will have approximately 10 team members. The group is completely self supporting financially, and each member pays a significant amount in dues in order to make the season work. The most economical way to travel to national competitions is to fly to New York and drive to Dayton . We will obviously incur hotel, flight, and vehicle rental costs. Our color guard/winter guard coach, Mr. Jenkins, is requesting donations of air miles and hotel points so to ease the financial load on the hard-working and dedicated team members. If you would like to donate points, gift certificates, or other types of support; please email him at SIJenkins06@aol.com or jenkinssi@fultonschools.org . He will also gladly entertain other ideas to address the group's travel needs. Thank you for your support of our band and color guard programs.
Congratulations to the Chattahoochee Gold Indoor Guard.
